The Aga Khan Academy Maputo is seeking a Marketing and Communications Assistant.
Context
The Aga Khan Academies are an integrated network of residential schools dedicated to expanding access to education of an international standard of excellence to exceptional young men and women regardless of their ability to pay. Envisaged in Africa, South and Central Asia and the Middle East, the Aga Khan Academies’ foundational values include pluralism, meritocracy and civil society. Housed in spacious and attractive campuses with outstanding facilities the Academies offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Curriculum from Primary Years to the Diploma and provide a rich opportunity for both teachers and students alike to grow both professionally and personally. The first Aga Khan Academy opened in Mombasa, Kenya in 2003, the second in Hyderabad, India in 2011, the third in Maputo, Mozambique in 2013, and the network is now expanding with the construction of the fourth Academy in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Academies aim to develop meritorious young men and women into homegrown ethical leaders through education of the highest international standard in purpose-built campuses. Responsibilities
- Marketing – support on follow up calls of leads, both national and international; support on the social media management and website content; support on contacts with external service providers; support on content creation in portuguese/english including written and some visual content;
- Communication – compiling monthly newsletter and engaging with school community to get content; engaging with communications team of other Academies and AU comms network; article writing for website, local media and social media;
- Mandatory – proficiency both in portuguese and english.
Requirements
- Educated to degree level;
- Demonstrative experience of administrative work, family liaison or parental communication/liaison in a school;
- A deep understanding of, and connection with, Mozambican culture, traditions, values and society;
- Very good command of English and Portuguese – both written and oral;
- Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with design and video editing software, and content management systems is a plus;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to interact well and communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and stakeholders within a diverse and pluralistic society;
- Proven ability to administer records and other sensitive information;
- Ability to reach out to stakeholders outside the Academy and win them for the vision and mission of the school;
- Ability to facilitate the training and professional development of colleagues so that they are better able to understand and act upon parent and student needs;
- An ability to develop and demonstrate a deep understanding of how to put into practice the vision of His Highness the Aga Khan for the Academies.
